The Ocean: A Reflection

The Ocean is unforgiving, wild, calm, and beautiful — all at once.
One does not cross the ocean to conquer.
He cannot.
He asks only for permission to pass through silently,
leaving behind nothing but bubbles.

The waves do not ask forgiveness.
The winds above the sea do not announce their arrival.
The currents obey no man.

When you swim out to the Ocean,
you cannot hope to return unscathed.
You are battered by the waves,
dragged off course by hidden currents,
tossed without apology.

You are at the mercy of the ocean.
And the Ocean feels alive —
speaking through shifting winds, changing tides, restless waves.

A log adrift at sea does not know where it will wash ashore.
After enough time,
it forgets where it even came from.

Life feels like that now —
adrift in a tarnished reflection of the Ocean.
Worn by winds that remember nothing.
Carried by currents that do not care.
